Ayurveda for ADHD
A day of understanding with Vishnu
Learn to Apply This system of Natural Health Care to Your child's life
Ayurveda is a holistic approach to healing that individualizes care according to the constitution of each individual. Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga and in its literal translation is the "Science of Life." ADHD is a commonly diagnosed condition that continues to arise in our modern society. Living in a culture where everything is fast-paced and often over-stimulating is perpetuating this difficulty to maintain focus. This workshop will bridge the gap between the Eastern view and Western idea around this phenomena, more specifically through Ayruveda (the sister science of Yoga) and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). We will address possible causes and helpful remedies to take hold of this in order to encourage balance.
Ayurveda For Anxiety
Understand and manage Anxiety through Ayurveda
Anxiety can be considered a hyper-aroused state of the nervous system which is influenced by various types of stress(ors) and dictates the direction of other potentially health-related issues, affecting mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda, known as the science of life, is a holistic medical science connected with the yogic tradition. In this workshop we will explore the root causes of anxiety, how anxiety can be triggered, and how to manage and reduce anxiety according to Eastern tradition and philosophy.
For new practioners or those who have never before done yoga. If you have always wanted to try a yoga class, but felt intimidated due to lack of flexibility, coordination or the prospect of sheer embarrassment, then this workshop is for you. We will move slowly as we start from the beginning and learn fundamental yoga movements, (asana) and basic breathing techniques. We encourage you to bring any and all questions you have along with you.
"Going on my 3rd class in my 6 class beginner series and I am well impressed by the little gem which is Yoga Child. The series is being instructed by Paige and I feel that she is an excellent teacher. She takes the time to explain each pose, but I feel the class runs smoothly and we're never "stuck" trying to perfect one pose. The price of the series is well justified for the quality of the class you receive.
The studio itself is very lovely and is a joy to practice in. Once you enter the studio and the sliding doors are closed, you almost forget about the harsh winter wind and bustle of the city outside. I also find that the studio is kept at a very reasonable temperature. There's nothing worse than a cold studio when you're trying to loosen up those muscles!
Bonus: At the end of our class, Paige walks around and gives a quick massage to our neck and temples. This is the type of detail that will make me a life-long member at Yoga Child."

The Essential Threads For Mastering change
Change is the only constant…and your success in life hinges on your ability to adapt to change. But what is your capacity to deal with change on a daily bases? Yoga and its ancient teachings offer a clear path towards mastering change and resiliency. By employing specific breath techniques, asana, and intentions, you will refine your practice to become more powerful and create change in the right direction. We will begin with a discussion of the Yoga Sutras, and the three key teachings on asana (Sutras 2.46 – 2.48) and from there embark on a yoga practice that will help you experience the essential threads for mastering change. The main focus of this yoga practice will be simple and accessible postures with an emphasis on twists and forward folds. In addition to a full audio recording of the practice and lecture, you will receive a ten-page guide that highlights all the key teachings. But more importantly, you will leave empowered with wisdom that can change your life off the mat. This workshop will be geared for all levels with a consistent yoga practice.

Yoga For Climbers
With Brittany Policastro
Climb with comfort
Like Yoga, climbing requires focus, poise, grace and a joyful heart and open mind. However, as most climbers know, it can also take a toll on your body if not balanced by honoring and stretching the parts of your body that support your climb. In this workshop we will focus specifically on strength and flexibility poses as related to climbing. The result will be improved awareness of the muscles used, an understanding of role of flexibility, and the opportunity to receive hands-on guidance as you learn stretches you can do during your climbs. This workshop promises to enhance your climbing experience, during and after your climbs.
Whether athletic or sedentary, young or old, males are typically less flexible because of tighter, larger muscles in the arms and legs. This class will address these areas and begin to lengthen the muscles, building flexibility. We will cover benefits, contra-indications, the breath, yoga philosophy, basic postures, and how to tailor a class in order to suit your specific needs. Strength will also be addressed with poses and movement that require you to support your own body weight while maintaining body position and control. Most importantly, we will de-stress the mind and body at the end of each class through a guided relaxation that will leave you feeling energized and focused.
Yoga For Runners
With Brittany Policastro
Running into the Stretch
Running is an empowering practice, often vital to a runner’s life. It trains one to meet his or her limits, allows for the release of stress and is a wonderful cardiovascular exercise. However, if this practice is going to sustainable, stretching should be an integral part of it. Otherwise, this high impact practice can take an unnecessary toll on a runner’s body, causing extreme tightness and even injury. If you are a runner this workshop is here for you! Under the hands on guidance of Brittany Policastro, you will practice and learn specific poses designed to target the parts of your body you work during running: from your feet to you low back. The hope is that you will use these poses as part of your running regimen to make it the most optimal experience.
Derive the healing benefits from Yin Yoga with highly praised instructor & performance artist, Gabrielle de Burke (Casella). In this workshop we will get reacquainted with the wisdom of the inner child while exploring mindful-meditations that reshape patterns in the landscape of the adult practitioners body-temple. Through long-held & restorative poses, energy blockages release by activating meridians (energy pathways in the body), stimulating acupressure points & chakras (energy centers in the body) to promote mobility in the connective or “yin” tissues (ligaments, tendons, & cartilage). Yin yoga will challenge participants in the art of finding stillness… in all aspects of the body, mind & spirit of the practice. Meditate on the poetry of ancient Taoist mystical philosophy being read aloud to practitioners during poses in an effort to resonate w/ the inner chords of our deepest being. This workshop will be accessible to range of experience from beginners to intermediate & advanced practitioners.
